  • The San Diego Planning Commission has forwarded to City Council a controversial $650 million mixed-use development, called One Paseo, proposed for Carmel Valley. In their unanimous 5-0 vote, planners recommended that City Council consider 11 refinements to the long-discussed project, aimed at addressing residents’ concerns about added traffic congestion. City Council will review the project at an upcoming meeting.

  • After nearly five hours of public testimony on One Paseo, the San Diego Planning Commission voted on Oct. 2 to continue the item for commission discussion and deliberation to its Thursday, Oct. 16, meeting. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and no further public testimony will be taken — the board will aim to make a recommendation to send to San Diego City Council for the final decision.

  • The Baked Bear has been announced as the newest tenant at Pacific Highlands Ranch Village, bringing custom-built ice cream sandwiches to Carmel Valley from Pacific Beach. The owners of Baked Bear are two local Torrey Pines High School graduates, Shane Stanger and Robby Robbins. The pair have run a store in Pacific Beach since May 2013 and also have a storefront in Petco Park.
